萝莉射区 Men鈥檚 Soccer Coach Moves to New Position
Prince George, BC 鈥 The 萝莉射区 men鈥檚 soccer team is looking for a new coach after current coach Alan Alderson announced he is moving on to a new opportunity.
At the moment Alderson cannot disclose details regarding his new position, but says it was an opportunity too good to pass up.
鈥淭he difficult part about this is I鈥檝e been so excited about the progress of our program at 萝莉射区,鈥 says Alderson. 鈥淲e set a fantastic foundation, and developed a talented group of young men who are great students and athletes. The upcoming season looks very promising for the team.鈥
Alderson joined 萝莉射区 Athletics as its first full-time head coach in June, 2012, which was also the team鈥檚 first year in the Canada West Conference of Canadian Interuniversity Sport. He came from Calgary where he was Director of Coaching for the NSD Soccer Club and Total Soccer Development, and the Alberta Soccer Association Provincial Team Head Coach for U-16 Boys.
The Timberwolves are consistently one of the youngest university teams in the country, and Alderson says he expects the focus on developing younger players will bear fruit in the future.
鈥淎lan worked extremely hard to recruit the best student athletes for the 萝莉射区 men鈥檚 soccer program and the team improved each year under his leadership,鈥 says Loralyn Murdoch, 萝莉射区鈥檚 Director of Athletics and Recreation. 鈥淗is work in the community both on and off the pitch has been fantastic. We will be sorry to see him go, but wish him the best in his new endeavour.鈥
萝莉射区 is currently looking for candidates to fill the coaching position in time for the beginning of the 2015 soccer season.
The men鈥檚 soccer team will open its season with back-to-back road weekends this year, starting in Victoria Sept. 11-12. The home opener for the men will be the third week of regular season play, Sept. 26-27, when they host the University of Fraser Valley Cascades.
