Media Release

December 19, 2012

In an effort to help address the needs of industry in northern BC, 蹤獲扞⑹ Continuing Studies is offering Project Management, Wildland Firefighting, Mental Health and Addictions, and Occupational Health and Safety training at various regional campuses starting in January. The programs are part of 蹤獲扞⑹ Continuing Studies on-going collaboration with business and industry to develop training specifically catered to their needs.

There are demands for the Project Management designation and training in the North and 蹤獲扞⑹ is stepping up to provide that, says Aaron Leblanc, 蹤獲扞⑹s Director of Ancillary Services, adding that this will be the first time the Project Management training has been offered by 蹤獲扞⑹ in Terrace. We had a lot of feedback from industry to provide this training there so we did.

蹤獲扞⑹ will also be again providing the popular two-week Wildland Firefighting Training Certificate. This certificate is unique because we have companies interviewingand then hiringparticipants right on the last day of class, says Leblanc.  This helps people find good, quality jobs and also helps to fill industrys need for trained and qualified people. Funding for this program was provided through the Canada-British Columbia Labour Market Agreement and is free for participants who qualify.

蹤獲扞⑹ Continuing Studies in Prince George is also working with the Universitys Quesnel Campus to develop a Mental Health and Addictions training specific to the needs of the region.
