Anthropology is the study of what makes us human. Anthropology is concerned with understanding humankind both biologically and culturally in the past, present and future.

Heritage, Identity, Equity & Social Justice. We are a small department, yet we cover 3 subfields fully (Archaeological, Biological, and Social/Cultural Anthropology) and offer an introduction to Linguistic Anthropology.

Our faculty have expertise across all subfields of Anthropology: Archaeological, Biological, Linguistic and Social/Cultural Anthropology. We work in Northern British Columbia, Western and Northern Canada, Europe (Ireland, Estonia, Ukraine), and Africa (Ethiopia, South Africa).

The Anthropology in Our Backyards Speaker Series explores our humanity, locally and globally to question who we are as biological, cultural, and social beings in our world.

Anthropology at ÂÜÀòÉäÇø offers innovative experiential learning in multiple ways: through our Anthropology Field School courses (in Archaeology and Social/Cultural Anthropology); the Anthropology Capstone course and publication of the online Capstone reader; and the Body Modifications Travelling Museum Exhibit (developed out of the ANTH 303 Museums, Galleries, Archives course).
