Work-integrated learning (WIL) resources for faculty

What is Work-integrated Learning (WIL)?   

As cited by Work-integrated Learning (WIL) is a model and process of curricular experiential education which formally and intentionally integrates a student’s academic studies within a workplace or practice setting. WIL experiences include an engaged partnership of at least: an academic institution, a host organization and a student. WIL can occur at the course or program level and includes the development of learning outcomes related to employability, personal agency and life-long learning.

 Funding opportunities  

  • - Explore current federal and provincial funding programs that support employers, including faculty, in hiring WIL students.  

Hiring and job posting support  

  •   – A guide for creating student WIL job descriptions.  
  • - Post opportunities directly to our student-facing job portal.  

Curriculum and learning support  

  • Learning objectives - Support for developing meaningful learning objectives for WIL courses or placements. 
  • - Includes frameworks, teaching models, and preparation materials to help students succeed in WIL experiences.

  • – An open-access course available to all students, focused on resume development, interview preparation, and professional communication. This resource helps ensure students are confident and well-prepared for work-integrated learning and employment opportunities; and it is also a requirement for students interested in the co-op program. â¶Ä¯&²Ô²ú²õ±è;
  • Career prep tools – The Career Centre offers online resources for resume and cover letter writing, along with opportunities for one-on-one appointments for personalized support.
