2026 Competition
Design Challenge Details
In this year's competition, your team is in it for the long haul with a challenge to design an apparatus that can transport a load of hockey pucks across a course.
- Date: 13 March 2026
- Location: Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre (Building 14) | ÂÜÀòÉäÇø, Prince George Campus
Registration
All teams must by 1 December 2025 to participate in the 2026 Competition. After this deadline, teams interested in competing may contact us at Engineering.Outreach.unbc.ca.

Requirements Overview
- Teams of 2-4, between Grades 10-12, are invited to participate. Teams of mixed grades are permitted.
- The designed apparatus(es) must be mechanically powered and have a maximum size of 1 m (W) x 1 m (D) x 1 m (H).
- Teams will also present their designs to competition judges and participate in a Q&A session during the competition.
- Participating teams will receive access to funds to complete their design for the competition.

Design Challenge Details
At the inaugural competition, the puck stops here with a challenge to design an apparatus that can shoot a hockey puck toward a target.
Requirements
- Teams of 2-4, between Grades 10-12, are invited to participate. Teams of mixed grades are permitted.
- The apparatus must be powered by a falling sandbag and have a maximum footprint of 1 metre x 1 metre. Teams will launch in two rounds featuring two different scoring challenges.
- Participating teams will receive access to funds to complete their design for the competition.
